Sunday, April 10, 2016 – “Paying the Price”

Posted by MMPC Admin on Monday, April 11th, 2016 in

Following Saul’s journey to Damascus, Pastor Huggins explains how Jesus used Saul to help him understand what it means to be a follower of Christ.  Pastor Huggins details how something as simple as a momentary prayer can leave you feeling touched by God.

Sunday, May 24, 2015 – “A Gift for Us”

Posted by MMPC Admin on Sunday, May 24th, 2015 in

If the doors of the Church suddenly blew open and people were speaking in tongues today, how would we react? In this message from Rev. Huggins, we get a message that is celebrating Pentecost and how we should view being filled with the Holy Spirit. The continuation of the message from Acts focuses on Jesus and his message during Pentecost.

The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost
1When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
5Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? 9Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11(both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
13Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”
Peter Addresses the Crowd
14Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 16No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17“ ‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
19I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

Sunday, May 17, 2015 – “Curious In Between”

In this message from Rev. Huggins, he explains how we are all an embodiment of Matthias. In the absence of Judas, the Disciples were trying to determine who would be the 12th Disciple. Give a listen to this message and share with others today!

15In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty) 16and said, “Brothers and sisters, the Scripture had to be fulfilled in which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus. 17He was one of our number and shared in our ministry.”
21Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus was living among us, 22beginning from John’s baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection.”
23So they nominated two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias. 24Then they prayed, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen 25to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs.” 26Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.

Sunday, April 12, 2015 – “Common Trust”

In this message from Acts, Rev. Huggins shares about the similarities that we share with Biblical challenges. The lesson about sharing what we have reminds of Jesus’s directives for life.

32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.

Posted by MMPC Admin on Sunday, February 22nd, 2015 in

Rev.  Huggins worked with Thornwell Home for Children for a good portion of his career. During our Mission season he invited Dr. Dennis Reid, Florida Regional Advancement Officer for Thornwell, to share in worship. Dennis shared his tale of trying to throw away a trash can, and the persistence of God’s love for us.
